BATIK BIRDS

The flowing wax can be difficult to work with. I have spent many years perfecting my technique.  If you look closely, you will notice all the fine lines withing the White Pelican for example, that give the illusion of feathers; each line has been created by NOT waxing it. So the wax was applied where I wanted the white feathers to be, leaving space around each one so that the fine line would be created. This is true of any lines you see in my work; no pens create these after the fact as some artists might do. All outlines are created through dipping into the dye, after waxing and leaving those areas to accept the dye.
